The Problem
Road pricing has no common definition of what a professional needs to know.
Without that definition, there is no common training built on it and no independent way to verify what a practitioner knows. There is also no clear career path, so new entrants cannot see where to start or how to advance. As senior practitioners retire, their replacements arrive from other agencies or fields without road pricing backgrounds - the contextual knowledge - and there is nothing to measure them against. Organizations compete for the same small group of proven people, and new hires take longer to become effective.
The Solution
Three pillars: the Body of Knowledge, Training, and the RPP™ Credential.
The Body of Knowledge provides that common definition of what a road pricing professional needs to know. Training helps practitioners prepare for their roles and for the exam. The RPP™ credential independently verifies competence. The credential has tiers - Foundation, Practitioner and Specialist - which give practitioners a clear career path from entry level to senior expertise. Employers get a reliable way to assess candidates and bring new staff up to speed faster. Practitioners get a portable credential that stays with them throughout their career.
The Ecosystem
One shared definition for everyone who hires, trains, and develops road pricing practitioners.
IRPP publishes the Body of Knowledge so that agencies, employers, universities, and training providers all work from the same definition. Training providers, including IRPP, can align their courses to it. Employers can use it to shape job descriptions and staff development plans. Candidates can prepare however they choose, because training using IRPP materials is not required to sit for an IRPP exam.
The RPP™ credential provides the independent check. Exams are built from a survey of working practitioners, and the people who teach do not write or grade the exams. Credential holders stay current through continuing education, and the credential stays with them when they change employers.

A Defined Career Path: Each tier sets out the competencies expected at that stage, from Foundation to Specialist. Practitioners can see what to work toward next, and employers have a better ability to match credential tiers to the roles the are hiring for - or procuring in RFPs.

Help Build the Profession
A limited group of organizations will support IRPP's launch, with a commitment of three years.
Founding Organizations fund the work that brings the RPP™ training and credentials to fruition. After the build period, exam and renewal fees are designed to meet operating costs. While Founding Organization financial support ends, their role continues in perpetuity. Founding Organization nominate practitioners to the Subject Matter Expert Technical Advisory Committee (SMETAC). SMETAC provides input and expertise on the Body of Knowledge, training, and credential standards.
